Atlantic Hires Cohen

    As its online properties grow in audience and influence, The Atlantic has recruited WIRED’s Executive Editor Bob Cohn for the newly-created role of editorial director, TheAtlantic.com. Reporting to Editor James Bennet and based in Washington , DC , Cohn will oversee the iconic publishing brand’s digital editorial efforts, including its closely-followed blogs, web-only dispatches, online delivery of magazine content and new initiatives.

    During October, TheAtlantic.com drew a record 36.8 million page views, 4.5 million unique visitors and 15.3 million sessions–more than doubling the record figures set in August. Traffic was fueled by the commentary and analysis of The Atlantic’s wide-ranging team of bloggers–including Andrew Sullivan, Marc Ambinder, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Ross Douthat, Megan McArdle, Jeffrey Goldberg, James Fallows and Clive Crook.
