In this morning’s POLITICO Playbook, Mike Allen included email and phone correspondence with Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein on the hours and minutes leading up to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

“We were aware that we had a real role in what had happened,” Bernstein told Playbook by phone. “My feeling was just one of total awe. The nation had gone through this, and now it seemed it was finally going to end. … The whole system worked. The press had done its job.”
