Brian Ross, ABC Win IRE Award

From ABC’s release:

ABC News’ Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross and the Investigative Unit have received the IRE Award for their reporting on the Mark Foley Congressional Page scandal on the Investigative Unit’s web page, “The Blotter,” the Investigative Reporters and Editors Inc. announced today. This is Investigative Unit’s third award for breaking the Mark Foley story on ABCNEWS.com.

Mr. Ross and the ABC News Investigative Team first reported on ABCNEWS.com’s “The Blotter,” questionable emails sent by then-Congressman Mark Foley to a former congressional page. That online report and further reporting on ABC News’ broadcasts and platforms prompted other former pages to reveal more sexually explicit instant messages from Foley. After being confronted by ABC News, Foley resigned.

The Ross Unit has previously been awarded the prestigious USC Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award as well as a National Headliner Award for their reporting on the Mark Foley story.

ABCNEWS.com is the 24-hour online news service of ABC News launched in May 1997 and is consistently ranked among the top news sites. ABC News Now, a 24-hour digital network that offers a wide range of live and on-demand programming, is currently available to more than 30 million users across cable, broadband and mobile.
