David Von Drehle’s Got Style

The Washington Post will soon make an all-newsroom announcement that David Von Drehle, a former National reporter and former Style AME who is now a staff writer for The Washington Post Magazine, will become the Style section’s new political reporter (replacing Mark Leibovich, whose shoes were temporarily being filled by Libby Copeland). See original job description here.

Initial reaction? People are thrilled. DVD’s well respected around the newsroom as one of their top writers.

Some questions:

Why would he come back to Style?

Who managed to convince him?

Why didn’t anybody see this coming?

Who lost out on the job?

What does Jack Shafer think?

Will the NYT run an announcement?

Will DVD get a book deal out of it?
