According to a nationwide poll conducted by The Washington Post and Kaiser Family Foundation, “More than half of the 2.6 million Americans dispatched to Iraq and Afghanistan struggle with physical or mental health problems, feel disconnected from civilian life and believe the government is failing to meet the needs of this generation’s veterans.”

Participants included Todd Bowers, vice president, JPMorgan Chase; Mollyann Brodie, senior vice president, Public Opinion Research, Kaiser Family Foundation; WaPo’s Rajiv Chandrasekaran, senior correspondent and associate editor, David Finkel, national enterprise editor, and Greg Jaffe, national enterprise reporter; and Dr. Caitlin Thompson, deputy director for suicide prevention, US Dept. of Veterans Affairs.
