Side note: Hitchens recently penned a piece for Vanity Fair that had him going to a California spa and taking yoga classes, etc. At the end of the piece, the magazine noted that Hitchens’ next self-help installment would have him going cold turkey on booze and cigarettes. Well, in the latest issue, Hitchens’ contribution is about the death of an American soldier in Iraq, so he bought himself a month. But, soon, expect Hitchens to put down the bottle and Rothmans as he works on his next Vanity Fair piece.
