Hotline Profiles McGlinchy

From its “Friday Feature“:

Jim McGlinchy is the new Deputy DC Bureau Chief for CBS News. Previously, McGlinchy was the sr. producer in DC for the “Evening News” from ’96-’07, and WH producer for the “Evening News” from ’93-’96. Among the other CBS shows he’s worked for: “This Morning,” “Morning News,” “Face the Nation,” and the “Evening News with Walter Cronkite.” But today he’s our Friday Feature:

If you could have any other job besides the one you have now, what would it be?

Something flying. No airline jobs thanks. But some job that let me fly to different places with time to visit.

If you could cover any past political story, which one would it be and why?

The Continental Congress in Philadelphia. A congressional session with life and death issues — and few earmarks. …

What’s your favorite political book and why

I am not sure this qualifies as a political book — but I really liked “Truman” by David McCullough. It was a great portrait of someone I thought I knew but there turned out to be so many sides to the man.

What is your biggest weakness (and not your job interview biggest weakness)?

Filling out this form, I answered this question last so obviously it has to be putting off things I don’t want to deal with.

    What’s your favorite comfort food?

    Good Irish stew.
