Kaplan Returns to ABC News as EP for “This Week”
CBS Evening News EP Rick Kaplan is returning to ABC News where he spent more than 20 years as a producer for “Good Morning America,” “Nightline,” “PrimeTime Live,” and “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.” In his new role, Kaplan will take the reins of “This Week with Christiane Amanpour.”
Kaplan, who has served as president of both MSNBC and CNN in the past, will be filling the role left by former EP Ian Cameron who left the show last fall. He will be based in New York and commute to Washington weekly for “This Week.” Fun fact: In his 40 years in the news business, Kaplan has won 44 Emmys, 8 Murrows, 4 DuPonts, 2 RFK’s and 2 George Foster Peabody Awards.
