Wednesday night at the Mayflower, Marriott International launched it’s new multicultural campaign – #LoveTravels – conveying its commitment to traveler comfortability. In celebration of Capital Pride, Marriott introduced the new initiative through the lens of photographer Braden Summers with Brooklyn Nets’ Jason Collins and transgender fashion model and social advocate Geena Rocero, among other LGBT influencers.
Notable guests included Judy and Dennis Shepard (parents of Matthew Shepard) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). At the event, Collins presented Judy and Dennis Shepard with a signed number 98 jersey in honor of their son.
“Braden’s work so beautifully illustrates the inclusiveness and equality that we embrace,” said Kristine Friend, senior director of segment marketing for Marriott. “We are committed to ensuring that all of our guests feel comfortable at all of our hotels and are proud to stay with Marriott. #LoveTravels is a universal theme we believe is shared by all cultures and communities and truly represents our company’s philosophy and values.”
Hotel building wraps were unveiled this week at the Renaissance at Dupont Circle and Downtown; the Ritz Carlton Washington DC; the Residence Inn at Dupont Circle; and the JW Marriott Washington, DC. It is also being featured at Marriott.com/gaytravel and at Capitol Pride and in San Francisco and New York City.
