Among John McArdle‘s claims to fame is breaking the groundbreaking bathroom arrest story of Idaho GOP Sen. Larry Craig in 2007. Now McArdle, so dedicated that he spent election night camped out in the newsroom in a sleeping bag, is leaving Roll Call after seven years to go to work for Greenwire. He started at Roll Call as an intern in 2002. Next week is his last week at the publication.

Congratulations to McArdle.

Read the internal memo after the jump…

We are sad to announce that John McArdle has decided to leave Roll Call after more than 7 years to become a reporter for Greenwire and Energy and Environment Daily. John, as some will remember, began his career here as an intern in the summer of 2002. He was hired as an editorial assistant in July 2003, after graduating from the University of Virginia (Mr. Jefferson’s University, as he’ll remind you). He became a reporter covering the campus beat in the beginning of 2005 and then became a politics reporter in September 2007, shortly after breaking the story of Larry Craig’s bathroom arrest.

We will miss John as a colleague in the newsroom and wish him well. His last day will be Nov. 10. Details to come on his send off festivities.
