Media types like NBC’s Luke Russert, Bloomberg’s Susan Roberts, Examiner’s Tara Palmeri, CBS’ Meredith Stencil, USA Today’s Rebecca Heslin, Pamela’s Punch blogger Pamela Sorensen, Mix 107.3′s Tommy McFly, Washington Life’s Michael Clements and blogger Allison Priebe Brooks spent Saturday night under the stars on the National Mall for the L’Enfant Society’s second annual “Ball on the Mall.”

The sold-out event, boasting a beautiful clear tent, dinner, dancing and plenty of drinks offered journalists the perfect venue to mix and mingle with celeb-types and the city’s young movers and shakers. And though Whitney Houston who was rumored to make an appearance, didn’t show, Ricky Schroder did.

Addressing the dinner, the Silver Spoons star said, “I didn’t even know this was a problem until someone told me,” and then promised a tent full of guests, including the Mexican Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan, that he’d tell more celebrities about the organization and their efforts to restore and improve the National Mall.

The event raised $350,000, exceeding its goal by $130K.
