  • A release announced, “Continuing its growth trend from 2008, ABC News ‘Nightline’ kicks off 2009 with strong growth in all categories—season and quarter to date, week to week and year to year. ‘Nightline’ posted 3.99 million total viewers for the week of January 5, 2009, growing 22% compared to last week, according to Nielsen Media Research. Among Total Viewers, ‘Nightline’ increased 34% compared to the same week last year, while ‘Letterman’ declined (-11%) and ‘Leno’ declined (-1%). The program also grew 11% season to date and 21% quarter to date.”

  • A release announced, “According to Nielsen Media Research data, ‘Meet the Press’ won in households and key demos for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009. The NBC program was No. 1 in homes nationally, posting a 3.1 rating and 8 share. ABC came in second with a 3.0 rating and 8 share, ABC in third with a 2.2 rating and 6 share and FOX placed last with a 1.3 rating and 4 share. ‘Meet the Press’ has now placed first in households for 118 straight weeks and 478 of the past 479 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage).”

  • A release announced, “Beginning at 11 a.m. ET, Jim Lehrer anchors PBS’ inauguration coverage, which includes political analysis from Mark Shields and David Brooks and historical context from Peniel Joseph, Ellen Fitzpatrick and Richard Brookhiser. PBS plans to include coverage of Barack Obama‘s arrival at the White House, excerpts of the church service and Obama’s speech to the nation from the Capitol steps.”
