New Gossip Writer, Conservative Columnist, Editor at Politics Daily

groer_annie_l.jpgPolitics Daily has some newbies.

Editor-in-Chief Melinda Henneberger announces three new hires today: “Gossip-beat writer extraordinaire” Annie Groer, formerly with WaPo; conservative columnist Peter Wehner, recently director of the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives under George W. Bush; and a new editor, former Cleveland Plain Dealer D.C. bureau chief Tom Diemer who also teaches at the Medill School of Journalism’s program in Washington.

Henneberger writes that Wehner “is the kind of pleasant guy who doesn’t mind if you accidentally-on-purpose channel Saturday Night Live and refer to his previous post as the office of “strategery.”

She announces that Groer will join the site’s resident gossip columnist Emily Miller on the gossip beat.

Groer describes her gossip taste: “Psssst. A lover on the payroll. A DUI outside a topless club. A nasty feud with neighbors. An unfortunate shoplifting habit. Unpaid nanny taxes. The more egregious the hypocrisy, the better. But stupid is ok, too. … We will have fun. Gossip’s honor.”
