Roll Call Moves

From an internal email sent to Roll Call staffers:

We are very happy to announce two promotions in the newsroom.

First, Amy Carlile has been named Features Editor. Amy has done an outstanding job producing the Around the Hill section four days a week in addition to managing the copy desk. Under Amy’s stewardship, Around the Hill has grown into a consistently strong section of the paper, anchored by features like Hill Climbers, Under Your Nose, Mug Shots and Hot Plate, in addition to community news no one else provides. Amy’s new role will allow her to focus even more on enhancing Around the Hill as well as assigning and editing more articles for the rest of the newspaper while shedding her copy
    desk oversight responsibilities.

In addition, Cassandra Foster has been promoted to Senior Copy Editor, a much-deserved elevation given her excellent work in both the production department and copy desk. While Cassy will continue to serve as a final set of eyes on every editorial page that goes into this paper, she will also play an even greater role alongside Will Taylor when it comes to page design and the creation and use of art. Plus, Cassy will be spending more time working with Amy on Around the Hill, generating story ideas and assisting with the editing of the section.

Both promotions take effect April 1, but don’t let that stop you from
congratulating them now. Both Amy and Cassy are huge assets for Roll Call and we look forward to them helping take us to new heights.

And another email:

I am pleased to announce the hiring of Steven Dennis, who will join Jennifer Yachnin and Susan Davis on our House reporting team in early April. Steve is currently the lead budget reporter at Congressional Quarterly, where, in addition to stellar coverage of the budget process, he set the pace on stories such as the firing last fall of House Appropriations Committee investigators. Prior to covering the Hill, Steve was Maryland state house bureau chief for the Gazette newspapers. Join me in offering Steve a hearty welcome when you see him here in the office or working the halls of the Capitol.
