What word do you routinely misspell? I have a real problem with dessert/desert. Fortunately, I rarely use either.

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? I leave it on vibrate, but the ring is Snoop’s “Gin and Juice.”

What time did you get up this morning? About 7:30

When did you last cry and why? Whenever the last time was that I watched “Brian’s Song.”

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? 150 or so

What’s your favorite letter? Either S or Y.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? Michael Lindenberger at the Dallas Morning News was very helpful when I was getting started. And fellow Kentucky native Hunter Thompson was an early inspiration.

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? I’m not a good person. Probably in college.

Who is your favorite active journalist? Too many to list. I work with a lot of great young reporters. And there are so many great reporters on the trail. Dan Balz, Adam Nagourney, Jeff Zeleny and Ryan Lizza to name a few. All very good at different things.

What did you have for breakfast? Coffee and cigarettes, breakfast of champions.

What one toiletry item could you not live without? Shampoo.

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? Faster than a speeding bullet.
