Typical of major headlines, they usually end up as fodder on the late night comedy circuit. And the story of President Obama’s decision to swap five Guantanamo detainees for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl found its way there this week.
From Colbert: “Afghan veteran Bowe Bergdhal is safe, unless he needs the VA health system anytime soon.” Also, speaking of Obama’s decision to release the five detainees, Colbert said, “He can’t release these guys. We were this close to charging them with something.”
The Washington Post’s Jeff Simon pulled together an international edition of this week’s late-night laughs. Check them out after the jump.
