Fusion’s Jorge Ramos Goes Inside the CIA

Screen Shot 2014-06-03 at 14.32.26Airing Tuesday night at 10 on Fusion (available in DC via RCN and Dish) will be a special edition of “AMERICA with Jorge Ramos” featuring interviews with CIA Director John Brennan, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), CIA analysts, and key players in the case against former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, accused of releasing one of the largest leaks of classified information in modern American history.

Recruitment is a major focus of the interview, as the intelligence agency works to bring in younger individuals with a sound technological understanding. Fishbowl5 With More’s Lesley Jane Seymour

more-LesleyJaneSeymour.jpg Any woman wanting to “reinvent” herself may want to skip the mid-life crisis and attend next week’s More Magazine Reinvention Convention on March 8 at the Ronald Reagan building. The event gears toward women 40 and above and includes interactive panels and workshops. The emcee is MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinksi. Others to attend are author Anna Quindlen, Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, and Lee Woodruff, wife of Bob Woodruff. Lee Woodruff will sign copies of her moving tome, Perfectly Imperfect. The event began in NYC in 2007 and this year has expanded to cities such as D.C. and Chicago. Today we chat with Lesley Jane Seymour, editor-in-chief of More, where she has worked for two years. Previously, she held editor posts at Marie Claire, Redbook, YM and before that spent four years at Vogue. “I still love what I do,” she says, “and I love helping other women.”

1. How did this all come about? The reinvention convention has been going on for a couple of years. What’s happening is we’re expanding it and taking it national. We believe women in D.C. want to reinvent themselves as well.
2. What do you mean by reinventing? Reinvent can be as small as getting a new hair cut or as big as saying I’m done with my big corporate job and I want to be an entrepreneur. Or, it can be that what I am doing now is not artistic enough. It’s many different levels of tweaking what you already do, or going for a big change.
3. So Mika’s the emcee. How did you pick her? Mika did New York and she’s adorable. She’s the class clown. She’s very entertaining in person. She’s also a wonderful entertainer. She has her really serious side but she also has her entertainer side.
4. Who inspires you? Personally I’m inspired by women from Hillary Clinton to Michelle Obama to somebody like Meg Whitman, running for governor of California, to Diane Keaton. Diane’s in her 60s but she’s constantly reinventing herself, doing great movies and never stopping. I am inspired by women who are not done with living their lives no matter their age.
5. What do you hope women attending the convention will get out of it? I hope that that they will come away with a to do list of things that will improve their lives and make them feel happier and more in control.
