DC Media Folks <3 Alex Wellen: "Lovesick" Launch Party

A variety pack of writers, producers, novelists and inventors ventured from the unseasonably cool night and into the hotter-than-a-Ginuwine-video steaminess to get their prescriptions filled last night.

“Lovesick”, Alex Wellen‘s new novel, was the reason. Quigley’s Pharmacy was the venue. Love Potion #9 flowed freely. And custom-crafted pill bottles (full of M&M’s) provided sweet remedy.

Attendees included Alex & Kris Wellen, Wolf Blitzer, Edie Emery, Jake Perry, Nancy Trejos, Mark Preston, Jay Newton-Small, Shirley Hung, Christina Sevilla, Lee Brenner, Marc Adelman, Annie Gowen, Rebecca Sinderbrand, Juleanna Glover, Courtney Kube, Mark Paustenbach, Sena Fitzmaurice and Andy Mirsky.

Noticeably absent: Huey Lewis & The News. (#lovesick & @alexwellen)

Creative Coalition Kicks Off WHCD Weekend With Small Dinner

Anne Schroeder Mullins, Christine Delargy, Kiki Ryan, Stephanie Green and Kate Michael

FBDC kicked off WHCD weekend Thursday night with a small dinner hosted by Lani Hay and Mark Smith in honor of the Creative Coalition- Connie Britton, Ellen Burstyn, Tim Daly, Dana Delany, Barry Levinson, Kerry Washington, Tichina Arnold, Matthew Settle and Rachael Leigh Cook.

We caught up with Delany- her seventh WHCD btw- and when we asked who she was most excited to see this weekend, her immediate answer was John McLaughlin. Settle showed off pics of his baby daughter and Daly teased Politico’s Anne Schroeder Mullins incessently- he’s my Hollywood boyfriend, she joked.

In attendance: Wash Examiner’s Kiki Ryan, US News’ Nikki Schwab, Janet Donovan, Bloomberg’s Tim Burger, Lee Brenner TWT’s Stephanie Green and Kate Michael.

Roll Call Goes Glam for 21 Years of HOH

rcfb.jpg

Big names gathered for last night’s uber-glam bash honoring the 21st anniversary of Roll Call’s “Heard on the Hill” and a recent refresh of the RC website. The festivities took place at swanky Coco Sala where guests noshed on an array of chocolate-themed appetizers and cocktails (who knew you could mix chocolate and mojito?).

Maybe it was the chocolate…or maybe the cocktails, but RC Publisher Peter Cherukuri managed to pull Senator John Thune, Senator Trent Lott, Juleanna Glover, Yebbie Watkins, Mike Feldman, Debbie Dingell, Christina Sevilla and Senator John Breaux to help celebrate his pub’s successes.

Representing the media were Former HOHer – The Sleuth’s Mary Ann Akers, Michael Isikoff, C-SPAN’s Greta Brawner, Bloomberg’s Tim Burger,Susan Davis of the WSJ, WaPo’s Paul Kane, MSNBC’s Bob Franken, Chad Pergram of FNC, MySpace’s Lee Brenner, NYT’s Carl Hulse, Emily Lenzner from ABC News and the Examiner’s Kiki Ryan.

Christine and I were on hand to cover it for you…not for the chocolate and cocktails.

It’s the Tam Cam!

Newsweek’s Tammy Haddad has created one of Denver’s best gag gifts: A fan that spells out “Tam Cam” (the name of her online videos, as dubbed by Politico’s Mike Allen). Charlie Crist — a Playbook reader, by the way…as is Debbie Dingell — has already requested one.

Haddad showed it off at a Palm dinner (where else?) with Ashley Bommer (Richard Holbrooke advisor), Nancy Kirshner Rodriguez (head of government affair to Mayor Gavin Newsom), Eve O’Toole (partner, Marc Associates), Marc Adelman (media consultant with Sen. Harry Reid), Hilary Rosen, Lee Brenner (MySpace), Debbie Dingell.

Also there: National Journal President Suzanne Clark, Justin Waller, Tim Shannon and John Galloway.
