Bill Kristol to Co-Moderate Convo with Admiral Mike Mullen

Pentagon to Opens Its Doors for HBO Premiere

In an unusual move, the Pentagon has agreed to host the premiere of HBO documentary “Wartorn 1861-2010” in the early evening of Thursday, October 28. The documentary chronicles the lingering effects of combat stress and post-traumatic stress on military personnel and their families throughout American history, from the Civil War through today’s conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Executive produced by James Gandolfini, Wartorn 1861-2010 is directed by Jon Alpert and Ellen Goosenberg Kentand produced by Alpert, Goosenberg Kent and Matthew O’Neill, the award-winning producers behind the HBO documentary “Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq.”  Lori Shinseki, the daughter of Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, co-produced the film.

The screening, which starts at 5:30, will feature opening remarks from Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and HBO co-president Richard Plepler.  Following the screening, Assistant Secretary Tammy Duckworth (Department of Veterans Affairs) and Assistant Secretary Doug Wilson(Department of Defense) will moderate a panel discussion that includes General Peter Chiarelli (Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army); Dr. Katie Chard of the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and others.

Don’t expect to crash this event.  Security will be tight.  Guests are being asked to arrive at the neighboring Sheraton National Hotel a full hour and a half before the premiere to clear security and board buses to the Pentagon. 

The HBO Documentary Films presentation debuts on Veterans Day: Thursday, November 11 (9:00-10:15 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO.

The Hill to Host Breakfast with Navy Adm. Mike Mullen

The event features Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

TVNewser: ABC’s Bob Woodruff returned to Iraq today for the first time since being injured by a roadside bomb in January 2006. He is traveling with Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and will be reporting for ABC News’ broadcasts and platforms. His first report will air tonight on “World News with Charles Gibson.”
