  • Oooh! George Stephanopolous beat out Tim Russert. Will the ratings say the same?

  • An NBC release announced that “Meet The Press with Tim Russert” topped “the competition in all categories during the week ending Sunday, January 14,” attracting 4.511 million total viewers. That is 30% more than CBS’s “Face the Nation”, 44% more than ABC’s “This Week” and a 175% advantage over FOX, representing the “program’s best total viewer delivery in almost a year.”

  • NBC announced its plan for State of the Union coverage on Tuesday, including Brian Williams leading the network news coverage. He will be joined by Tim Russert. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews will co-anchor MSNBC coverage. Also in the mix are Campbell Brown live from the House Chamber, David Gregory from the White House, Jim Miklaszewski from the Pentagon, Chip Reid from Capitol Hill and Chief Foreign Affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell.

  • C-SPAN also announced coverage plans starting at 8 p.m. with “a live studio program and guests who will preview” the address. At 8:45 p.m., C-SPAN takes viewers inside the House chamber and following the speech, C-SPAN will have reactions from Members of Congress, editorial writers and call-in viewers.

  • Baltimore Business Journal reports that Patuxent Publishing Co. bought ZIP Publishing “for an undisclosed sum. Zip publishes The View community newspapers which are distributed in Elkridge, Catonsville, Arbutus, Ellicott City, and portions of western Howard County.”
