Taking Out the Trash

What we almost missed today…

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has signed a three-book deal with Crown Publishers for about $2.5 million. The first book will be a memoir of her time in President George W. Bush’s administration, the second on her family, and the last in the series, a young adult version. From Crown’s statement: “Rice will combine candid narrative and acute analysis to tell the story of her time in the White House and as America’s top diplomat, and her role in protecting American security and shaping foreign policy during the extraordinary period from 2001-2009.”

WaPo’s Dan Eggen‘s new beat is a big one, “covering the exertion of influence in Washington by powerful interests here and beyond.” Eggen most recently covered the stimulus. (h/t Calderone)
