The New Republic this afternoon announced two promotions and a new hire, none related to yesterday’s news that editorial director Michael Schaffer is headed to Washingtonian as its fourth editor. Amanda Silverman and Linda Kinstler have been promoted to deputy editor and managing editor, respectively, and Rebecca Leber will join TNR as a staff writer.
Silverman will oversee production of the print magazine, NewRepublic.com, and the centennial issue. Kinstler has been promoted from reporter/researcher to managing editor, the role most recently filled by Silverman.
Leber will work with senior editor Jonathan Cohn on a new domestic politics and policy vertical expected this summer. Previously, she wrote about politics and climate change at ThinkProgress.
