The Unraveling of “Baby Killer” Remark
CNN’s congressional correspondent Brianna Keilar reported in by phone late last night to Wolf Blitzer as the House passed health care reform.
Keilar had shocking news to share: She told Blitzer that members of the media on Capitol Hill were buzzing an undisclosed GOP lawmaker shout “Baby Killer” at Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), but no one in the media could figure out who the voice was.
The mystery is over.
CNN is reporting this afternoon that the culprit was Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas), who released a statement admitting as much.
And this just in from WaPo:
“Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Tex.) admits shouting ‘baby killer’ during House debate over health care.”
WaPo reports: “Neugebauer says he was not referring to Rep. Bart Stupak, but instead, “I exclaimed the phrase ‘it’s a baby killer’ in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership.”
