Project Fishbowl

It’s hard to imagine what goes through the minds of photo service editors when they upload unflattering or awkward pictures of public figures.

Recall the October AP photo of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney as he prepared to pose with a group of elementary school kids. The result was what appeared to be a little blonde girl shocked to be looking at Romney’s ass. After some criticism, the AP later clarified what was actually going on in the photo (“Republican presidential candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney poses for photographs with students of Fairfield Elementary School, Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in Fairfield, Va. A student, right, reacts as she realizes Romney will crouch down directly in front of her and her classmates for the group photo.”)

AFP/Getty published an equally awkward photo Wednesday of first lady Michelle Obama arriving at Andrews Air Force Base with the President, before the couple departed for Dallas.

Naturally, this calls for Project Fishbowl.

Eddie: I hope she packed the Gold Bond.

Peter: “Oh, THAT’S where I put my cell phone.”

Betsy: “My hair looks like Mickey Mouse and this dress makes my stomach look funny. What the hell are you laughing at Barack?”

Mystery Capitol Hill staffer: “No way will you get me to comment on that.”
