WaPo Reporter Loses Father

WaPo Staff Writer Dan Eggen‘s father, Kenneth Eggen, died yesterday of cancer. A memo went out to all staff today announcing the news and the funeral arrangements. We’re told memos of this nature are not unusual at WaPo.

I am sorry to report that Dan Eggen’s father died yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Kenneth Eggen was 74, a retired hospital chaplain and
an ordained Lutheran minister. Funeral services will be Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem, Wis. Arrangements are through Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, also in West Salem. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in Kenneth Eggen’s memory.
