WaPo’s Sally Quinn to Receive Award

As a pitch letter to FishbowlDC asked, “Where can you find Vanity Fair’s Maureen Orth, Quinn, Asst. Sec. of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) all in one room at one time?”

The answer: At the Women’s Center Leadership Conference on March 13 with the theme, “The Power to Inspire”.

The Conference, which has been held for 25 years ,has attracted the likes of the late Katherine Graham, newswoman Jane Pauley, Senate hopeful Carly Fiorina and actress Olympia Dukakis to address a crowd of seven hundred plus.

The WomenÂ’s Center 24th Leadership Conference on March 13
to honor Maureen Orth, Sally Quinn and Senator Mary Landrieu

The conference will take place 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Honorees include:

Tammy Duckworth: Dept. of Veterans Affairs

Anita Dunn: political strategist, and former White House communications director to President Bush

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.)

Carol Joynt: (writer, New York Social Diary); host of Q&A Café

Elisabeth Leamy: Consumer correspondent on ABCÂ’s Good Morning America; author

Maureen Orth: Award winning journalist; special correspondent for Vanity Fair magazine; founder of K12 Wired Foundation

Nora Pouillon: Chef and owner of WashingtonÂ’s Restaurant Nora, AmericaÂ’s first certified organic restaurant

Sally Quinn: Washington Post journalist; author; Washington insider

Gwendoline Yeo: Actress and musician; noted TV and movie roles in “Desperate Housewives,” and “Broken Trail,” with Robert Duvall

Breakout sessions will be part of the conference format.
