What’s Weingarten Writing?

The latest piece from WaPo’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Gene Weingarten in WP Magazine jumps on the “50 Shades of Grey” bandwagon. Gene, who is morphing into Christian Grey as we speak, starts with a familiar theme in his writing. Men are stupid and women are angels. He’s not necessarily wrong, but I guess we can file this under “Write what you know…”

Gene brings in backup in the form of author Gina Barreca, “an expert on feminist literature.” I’m sure this will be an unbiased view on the stupidity of men. Gene takes a few easy shots about the book and then turns the column over to Barreca. It becomes an interview where Gene just lets her sound off on the book and how it is just one of the weapons in the war on women. This, naturally, is the fault of men.

It’s a pretty sweet gig for a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist to just turn it over to someone else. So, I’m pleased to announce that my next piece will be written by the Fishbowl intern. Now, where’s my Pulitzer?
