WGAE Hosts “Writers Speak! A Potentially Regrettable Evening…”
While much of the industry will be scrambling to hit the various WHCD pre-parties on May 8th, the Writers Guild of America – East (WGAE) is hosting “Writers Speak! A Potentially Regrettable Evening With Comedy Writers” at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
Through stand-up comedy routines and a panel discussion, WGAE members will focus on the phenomenon of audiences turning to comedy shows for news, as well as the growing synergy between Washington, Wall Street, the media, and the late night comedy/variety programs.
The panel discussion will be moderated by WGAE President and Senior Writer for Bill Moyers Journal, Michael Winship. Also taking part in the evening are The Daily Show’s J.R. Havlan and Tim Carvell, Letterman’s Bill Scheft and Tom Ruprecht, The Late Show’s Anthony Jeselnick, Matt Goldich from Best Week Ever, The Colbert Report’s Opus Moreschi and Allison Abner from The West Wing.
