Why Washington D.C. Gossip Sucks

We’ve been watching it happen for months. But it’s finally solidified: Politico‘s CLICK has officially given up on original reporting and is now aggregating items from WaPo‘s Reliable Source. The Wednesday afternoon CLICK item on actress Rashida Jones and President Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau stems from an item that WaPo aggregated from Playboy at 3:02 p.m. Politico nabbed the item an hour later at 4:02 p.m.

A weird detail that both pubs missed: A trusty FBDC reader combed the Playboy site (allegedly in search of other D.C. connections) and stumbled on the Girls of College feature. Within that is a topless Allie Stacy of Kaplan University, who sometimes wears nothing at all to her online classes. She has other words of wisdom. More importantly, Kaplan happens to be a subsidiary of the Washington Post Company. Katharine Graham would have been so proud.
