An Addition to the WCBS/Channel 2 Weather Team
It’s a homecoming for Long Island native Vanessa Murdock. She is joining WCBS/Channel 2 as weekend morning meteorologist and weekday reporter.
Murdock begins on October 10.
A Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association, Murdock has been staff meteorologist and reporter for WTKR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia since November 2006. Murdock also served as an adjunct instructor of meteorology at Virginia Wesleyan College since July 2007.
“We are pleased to welcome Vanessa back to New York,” WCBS news director David Friend says. “Vanessa is an outstanding meteorologist, both on air and as a college instructor and we look forward to having her join Don Dahler and Cindy Hsu on our weekend morning news team.”
Murdock, born and raised on Long Island, spent most of her youth in Center Moriches. After earning her bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Rochester, she attended Penn State University and received her Master of Science degree in meteorology. While at Penn State, she spent two years as a teaching assistant in the school’s meteorology program.
Murdock fills the void left by Katie Fehlinger who, after a brief stint, took a position at the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia during the summer.
