Today on the media- bistro.com Morning Media Menu podcast, hosts Jason Boog of GalleyCat and AgencySpy‘s Matt Van Hoven welcomed cartoonist Bob Eckstein, who recently wrote an essay/blog post on OpenSalon.com called “The Death of My Brilliant Career” about freelancing.

Jason, Matt and Bob discussed the day’s media headlines, including Microsoft and Yahoo’s deal, announced today, which gives the companies 28 percent of the search market. Can they take on search goliath Google by joining forces? “Nope, Google’s still going to win,” Matt said.

Also discussed: Sarah Palin‘s plans to launch a radio career. “If she stays in media, that’s a gold mine for cartoons,” Eckstein said of Palin. “I haven’t mentioned anyone who has a ‘face for radio’ and ironically, Sarah Palin is the opposite. Her best vehicle would be silent movies.”
