Christie Hefner Out As Playboy Enterprises CEO

christie_hefner.jpgFolio: just received word that Playboy Enterprises CEO Christie Hefner — daughter of the company’s legendary founder, Hugh — will step down on January 31, 2009. Jerome Kern, who serves on the company’s board of directors, will fill Hefner’s spot until a replacement can be found.

Hefner, a noted supporter of President-elect Barack Obama, alluded to the next president in her resignation announcement. “Just as this country is embracing change in the form of new leadership, I have decided that now is the time to make changes in my own life as well,” she said.

Like the rest of the media world, Playboy Enterprises has struggled recently, eliminating 80 jobs in October and projecting falling revenues for the year.
