Cop-Punching Reporter Sparks Political Scandal

Cop-assaulting television anchorwoman Alycia Lane has sparked a minor political scandal in Pennsylvania. As we previously reported, Lane used her post-arrest phone call to contact the governor of Pennsylvania, Ed Rendell. According to Rendell’s spokesperson, it was to “make sure he knew her side of the story because he is an opinion-maker and runs around in influential circles.”
Now PA House Republican leader Sam Smith is using the incident to attack the (Democratic) governor of Pennsylvania:
“What could she have been calling the governor for? [...] You know, he (Rendell) said, ‘Just because she wanted somebody to listen to her.’ Well, if you believe that, I got a bridge for you.. I can’t imagine that she called him for any other reason than to help her out.”
Well, yeah. That part is obvious enough.
But do you want to hear Governor Rendell (lukewarmly) defending Lane on his radio show? Of course you do.
