Dave Packer is a ‘Fresh’ Voice at WCBS-FM

Listeners to WCBS-FM in recent weeks have a heard a new voice on the station.

Dave Packer is not new to New York. In fact, he’s not even new to CBS Radio, having worked at sister station Fresh 102.7/WWFS until last year.

Packer and morning show co-host Danni were fired in September 2009.

Now he’s resurfaced.

At the time of Packer’s ouster at “Fresh,” Brian Thomas was serving as dual program director.

Thomas remains in charge at CBS-FM, the perennially top-rated Classic Hits station.

The versatile Packer has, seemingly, gained exclusivity as the main fill-in jock at 101.1

101.1 had a plethora of veteran jocks they could bring in off the bench, including “Big Jay” Sorensen and Russ “Famous Amos” DiBello.

“We take whoever is available,” Thomas says.

He points out that another of his talented back-up announcers, Don Geronimo took a full-time position at a station in Sacramento.

“I’m in good spirits and in sync with whatever happens to me henceforth, as it is all one big, interesting movie!” DiBello tells FishbowlNY.
