Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld at Odds

It’s Fashion Week in the city, and what better way to enter the weekend than with some fashion gossip? Okay, sure there are better ways, like winning the lottery or finding a gallon of Nutella in your cupboard, but just stick with us on this.

The New York Times reported yesterday that Emmanuelle Alt and Carine Roitfeld are no longer speaking to each other. The two worked closely together during Roitfeld’s reign as Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue, but when Roitfeld resigned and Alt took her place, something, apparently went wrong.

Both are refusing to explain why their friendship hasn’t made it past the changes, so expect the rumor mills to really churn some good stuff out.

Despite the rift, they both appear to be moving on. When questioned about her departure, Roitfeld was optimistic, explaining, “I’m very sad, but in a way I’m very happy, too.” Alt similarly commented, “I don’t look back and see clouds anywhere. Carine is someone who needs to be free.”
