87-year-old director Irvin Kershner has passed away in Los Angeles, his goddaughter told the AFP today. Kershner was best known for directing The Empire Strikes Back, but also helmed other sci-flicks like Robocop 2 as well as the Bond film Never Say Never Again. He’d apparently been suffering from an unknown illness for quite some time.
RIP, Mr. Kershner. Empire was by far the best Star Wars film and one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.
