Ex-MTVi CEO Launches Snowboarding Video Site
Nicholas Butterworth, former CEO of MTVi who launched a Travel Channel meets YouTube broadband video site last October, has carved out another Web video niche: snowboarding. His NYC-based Diversion Media just announced their second launch, Snowvision, you know, for all those tech-savvy snowboarders (no, really — have you seen that Shaun White HP commercial?).
The current site offerings are pretty much limited to the standard clips of epic snowboard footage interspersed with three-minute instructional videos [above] with guys named Dingo and Gooner. But there’s plenty on the way, says Butterworth.
Ironically, both Butterworth and former MTV digital chief and current Sling Media dude Jason Hirschhorn, colleagues at MTVi, are back in dot-com startup mode with video projects.
Butterworth, by the way, plans to launch additional video sites in 2007.
