Since being named indieWIRE editor-at-large last fall, veteran LA based journalist and blogger Anne Thompson has made it her quiet mission to expand the indie film site’s diverse blog network. Her first such partnership, announced just a few weeks after she had taken over, was with Montreal-run The Playlist.
Now comes news of Thompson deal #2. Although Peter Bogdanovich blogs weekly for indieWIRE, the addition to the site of producer Ted Hope (pictured) makes him, officially, the first fully active filmmaker to join the site in a writer capacity. Hope’s several dozen credits include 21 Grams, American Splendor, and Adventureland.
“One of the reasons I started blogging and kept it up is that I feel like we have the potential to build a stronger more active more participatory film community that supports us all,” says Hope. “IndieWIRE seems like the immediate solution of how to build that community.”
As the industry undergoes a seismic shift toward digital production and distribution, Hope sees an opportunity at indieWIRE “to build an incredible city.”
The name of Hope’s blog is Hope for Film. Let’s hope he’s right on that front.
