Jalen Rose Thinks He Injured Kobe Bryant on Purpose

Former NBA guard Jalen Rose has gone on to become quite the rising star at ESPN as an analyst and network personality. Part of what makes him stand out from the rest of the retired jocks is his honesty, a trait he displayed on his Monday podcast.

When discussing the 2000 NBA Finals, Rose confessed that he tried to injure Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.

“I think I did it on purpose,” Rose told Grantland.com. “I can’t say that it was an accident. Kobe Bean Bryant goes up for a jump shot out on the right wing.  I contest the jump shot. Kobe lands on my foot. He hobbles off and actually misses the next game. If it was up to me, he should’ve just missed the whole series. I would’ve had a championship ring and it would’ve been no harm, no foul.”

As Rose jokes, not only did he not  get a championship ring, he was a member of the Toronto Raptors when Bryant scored a career-high 81 points in 2006.

Karma.
