Jewish Journal Names New Senior Political Editor

The Jewish Journal of Los Angeles has named Shmuel Rosner as its new senior political editor. Rosner is a Tel Aviv-based columnist who will also bring his daily blog Rosner’s Domain to Jewishjournal.com.

Rosner is a former chief U.S. correspondent for Haaretz and a former columnist for the Jerusalem Post. He was brought on, in part, to help cover Jewish voting patterns in the 2012 election.

The Jewish Journal is a dynamic and aggressive news organization in which I’ve found people who have both vision and enthusiasm,” Rosner said in a release. “For me, as someone wanting to converse both with Israeli and American Jews, it is a perfect fit.”

Press release in full after the jump:

Shmuel Rosner, one of Israel’s most insightful and acclaimed political analysts, has joined The Los Angeles Jewish Journal. His influential and widely read daily blog, Rosner’s Domain, is now exclusively at jewishjournal.com.

The Tel Aviv-based editor and columnist will serve as Senior Political Editor for The Jewish Journal writing regularly for all of its publications, and daily for the Jewishjournal.com. Rosner will focus on Israeli- US relations and politics and the Jewish world, offering his measured, authoritative analysis drawn from vast experience and access to many influential contacts.

“The Jewish Journal is a dynamic and aggressive news organization in which I’ve found people who have both vision and enthusiasm,” Rosner said. “For me, as someone wanting to converse both with Israeli and American Jews, it is a perfect fit.”

Among other subjects, Rosner’s Domain will closely follow Jewish voting patterns and issues in the 2012 U.S. presidential campaigns. Rosner will draw from proprietary polling technology, as well as on-the-spot travel, to track the run-up to election day.

Rosner will continue to contribute a weekly Hebrew-language column to Maariv, Israel’s daily newspaper. He is a fellow at The Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI) and the non-fiction editor for Kinneret-Zmora-Bitan-Dvir, Israel’s largest Publishing House.

Rosner’s Domain got its start in 2005 at Haaretz.com, when Rosner was that newspaper’s chief U.S. correspondent. In late 2008, Rosner moved the blog to The Jerusalem Post, where he also served as a columnist. Rosner’s Domain launched at Jewishjournal.com on Dec. 1.

His work has also appeared in many papers and magazines, among them Slate, Commentary, The International Herald Tribune / New York Times, The New Republic and The Forward. Rosner is the author of the bestseller “Shtetl Bagel Baseball, on the Wonderful Dreadful State of American Jews,” published by Keter Publishing House, one of the largest publishing houses in Israel.

The Jewish Journal, a division of Tribe Media Corp., publishes the largest controlled circulation Jewish weekly newspaper in the United States, as well as jewishjournal.com, the largest Jewish news Web site outside Israel, and the world’s only Jewish news iPad app, JewishJournal.
