From their press release:

Adalian is currently Editor of industry publication TVWEEK.com and prior to that had been at Variety, covering television there for a decade. Adalian joins TheWrap’s top-notch editorial and business team, most recently augmented by Variety’s former executive editor Michael Speier, who is News Editor at TheWrap, and former Variety Publisher Charlie Koones, who has joined TheWrap’s Board of Directors.

Adalian is known as a force in breaking news about the television industry, having started at the New York Post and Boston Herald. Throughout his career, Adalian has covered both the business of network television and news and has interviewed a wide range of industry executives, producers and celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, Katie Couric, Conan O’Brien, and Howard Stern.

“We are thrilled to begin working with Joe,” says Sharon Waxman, CEO and Founder of TheWrap. “Joe is one of the most knowledgeable, authoritative journalists covering television. His reporting is a must-read for anyone serious about following this part of the industry. We are delighted to have his voice contribute to the A-team we are building at TheWrap.”

Founded by award-winning journalist and author Sharon Waxman, TheWrap has continued to gain momentum since its launch at the end of January 2009. After less than five months, it is regarded as an outlet for breaking news and insightful analysis within the entertainment and media industries, and has been cited everywhere from The New York Times to CNN, which recently called TheWrap “the exciting and headline-making website.”

Since its inception, TheWrap has exceeded expectations in terms of page views and readership retention as it continues to grow each month.

Waxman founded TheWrap to respond to the changing needs of entertainment professionals and enthusiasts in the digital age. The online news destination attracts an affluent, well-educated audience with hard-hitting, investigative stories and light-hearted daily musings on all things pop culture with columns such as “Mondo Media” and “Idol Musings” and video blogs hosted by the tongue-in-cheek Esther Goldberg.

TheWrap boasts a masthead of well-respected senior staff including Lew Harris, founding Editor-in-Chief of E! Online, and Kevin Davis formerly General Manager of Variety.com. Along with its roster of top-quality journalists, TheWrap hosts Hollywood insiders who blog at the site, including writer-director John Ridley, producer Laura Ziskin, producer Mike Medavoy, musician Peter Himmelman, TV legend Norman Lear, and many others.

Adalian will begin his new role at TheWrap this summer.
