KRLA-AM Beefs Up Morning Drive Team

On his podcast, LA radio vet Brian Whitman recently tipped today’s big news – he and Ben Shapiro have officially joined Heidi Harris weekday mornings on Salem Communications Corp. stations KRLA-AM 870 and KTIE-AM 590 in San Bernardino:

“I’d like to continue to do podcasting with Todd Perry and John Norten,” Whitman explained during episode #47. Then switching to his Tom Leykis impersonation, he added, “You can email me or let me know on Twitter and Facebook… I’ve got to figure this out.”

KRLA’s newly anointed Frosty, Heidi and Frank-style trio have been doing their shtick “beta” for the last couple of weeks. As of today, the three-hour weekday morning banter is to be officially known as Heidi Harris in the Morning, with Brian Whitman and Ben Shapiro:

“When we threw these three people together we honestly weren’t sure what would happen, but we knew that each of them brought a unique and important element to the mix,” said KRLA/KTIE program director Chuck Tyler. “After hearing a week of shows we realized that something very special was coming out of the speakers.”

“It’s a true honor and pleasure to join the unbelievably talented and fun Heidi Harris on KRLA mornings,” said Shapiro. “As a lifelong Angelino, I grew up listening to KRLA, and to get a chance to sit behind the mics alongside Heidi and Brian is a dream come true.”

“I am so excited to be returning to the radio on a daily basis in Los Angeles,” added Whitman. “I’m thrilled to team up with Heidi Harris and Ben Shapiro. They are both total pros. We do a smart, funny, issue oriented morning show for Southern California,” said Whitman.

A few weeks ago, Whitman did a hilarious, long fake interview on The Tim Conway Jr. Show as his good friend and former professional colleague Rick Dees. And then returned to publicly apologize.
