How Larry King Landed That 1964 Frank Sinatra Interview

“No one was bigger.” So… How the heck did Larry King, then at the outset of his career, get the Chairman of the Board to sit down across the local radio mike for three solid hours?

On The Howard Stern Show today, King promised that the answer to this question was a “great story” and boy, was he right. The details unequivocally range to the anecdotal moon and involve  a famous TV star, a full-page ad in the Miami Herald and more.

When Sinatra strode into the radio station on a Monday night with just minutes to spare, a peeved PR guy pulled King aside and said the following: “I don’t know how the hell you got this. He pays me not to get this.”
