M. Shanken Communications Lays Off 20
FishbowlNY.com has learned that M. Shanken Communications — publishers of luxury magazines including Wine Spectator, Food Arts and Cigar Aficionado — laid off approximately 20 staffers yesterday.
Staffers from all divisions have been let go, including at least one member of Food Arts‘ editorial team, an art director and a person on the promotions team.
The cuts come as the latest sign that no magazine job is safe, even those at lux publishing houses, long thought to be the most “recession-proof” category.
Calls to the company have not been returned.
