Mario Batali Fired From Food Network

0905mariob.jpg…And Molto Mario is outta here. Here being the Food Network, that is. The cable network severed their ties with Mario Batali after contract negotiations fell apart. Here’s what happened:

  • Last month, Food Network execs informed Batali that Molto Mario and Ciao America with Mario Batali wouldn’t get renewed. As of late, FN has been working on promoting newer celeb chefs such as Ingrid Hoffmann.

  • Batali threatened to walk off Iron Chef America if his shows were cancelled.

  • Food Network called his bluff and cut Batali off from the network.

    But, hey. Batali’s still got his upcoming puzzler of a project with Gwyneth Paltrow for PBS.
