Tourists Continue to Worship at Wrong Michael Jackson Shrine

It may be time for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to affix a disclaimer to the star of the other Michael Jackson.

Each time we stroll by the Walk of Fame star of former LA talk radio star Michael Jackson (pictured) at 1541 North Vine Street, we find ourselves having to explain to tourists that they are photographing the wrong MJ Terracotta temple. That star is a mile or so away in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, at 1627 Hollywood Boulevard.

The out-of-town visitors are forever grateful when FBLA helps them sort out the MJ muddle. Oddly enough, radio host Jackson got his microphone symbol adorned star in August of 1984, just two months ahead of a dedication ceremony for his namesake’s music logo-ed one in November.

When ABC’s Nightline did a piece on the Walk of Fame last spring, they talked to radio host Jackson about the Star confusion, which reached its peak when the pop star died. The report also made reference to a similar situation involving silent and talkie era Harrison Ford‘s. For the time being though, the King of Pop lives on as the King of the Wrong Sidewalk.
