Didn’t hear much from Michael Moore in the run up to the recent mid-term elections. But he’s back now, reminding Democrats that they still control the Senate and the presidency and to stop acting like such sad sacks. Moore went on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell yesterday to float a petition warning the Democrats to push an actual agenda in the next two years, instead of running to the center to save their asses.
Here’s Moore’s gauntlet:
We just voted for you, the Democratic members of Congress, in the midterms. But our vote comes with one big condition: If you do not straighten up, get a spine and do what we expect of you, we will find alternate candidates to run against you in 2012. And we mean it.
Consider yourself on notice that you have just two more years to start doing the things we elected you to do. If you move one more inch to the “center” or to the right, you will never get our vote again.
Moore embraced Democratic politics in 2004, throwing his support behind John Kerry, after years of backing third party candidates like Ralph Nader. Sounds like he’s just about done mainstream politics.
