Mira Lowe Steps Down As Jet Editor-In-Chief

After becoming the magazine’s first female editor-in-chief last April, Mira Lowe has announced her resignation from her post at Jet.  minOnline’s Steve Cohn reports that Lowe spoke to the Maynard Institute and claimed that she will move on to “pursue some personal and professional goals.”  Lowe went on to say that she repositioned Jet’s brand under parent company Johnson Publishing by adding “new voices and presiding over a new website.”

Lowe’s exit follows Johnson CEO Desiree Rogers’s hiring of Amy Dubois Barnett as editor-in-chief of Ebony back in June.  Barnett previously worked at Teen People and represents the youthful influence Rogers is looking to inject into Johnson Publishing’s titles.

Lowe’s final day at Jet will be Jan.3 and she plans to write a farewell column for the magazine’s Jan. 10 issue.
