More Info On Gawker’s New Blog

1210newitz.jpgGawker Media’s currently putting the finishing touches on their newest site — a futurism and sci-fi blog edited by Annalee Newitz (pictured). We’ve been hearing word that the site would launch “soon” (November 15, Silicon Alley Insider) and “any day now” (December 4, Wired.com). However, a source close to the new blog confirmed to FishbowlNY that the site would not be going live this week. A Christmas/New Year’s-skedded launch? Who knows.

Newitz has written for, among other publications, Wired, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, New York, Popular Science, Salon and Nerve. She also founded the seminal webzine Bad Subjects and is a former Electronic Frontier Foundation analyst and MIT research fellow. No word on content, co-editors or editorial yet, but she previously blogged at Wired.com’s much missed Table of Malcontents.
