National Geographic Adventure Folds
Since it wouldn’t be a week in the “2009 Great Print Die-Off” if another publication didn’t kick the bucket, today’s victim is National Geographic spin-off, National Geographic Adventure.
Days after reporting that the magazine was up for sale, Folio has news that the 10-year old magazine is folding, and laying off 17 people from its editorial and production staff. However, the brand will continue as a Web site and in other “multi-platform” models, including books and mobile apps.
This is just the latest in a string of bad news for the non-profit National Geographic Society, which lost publisher Steve Giannetti and several other employees from its main title in the beginning of October.
